Wild in Rice Special Events for 2011

Come back often as we add events throughout the season!

umami
May 11 - Umami: A Japanese Flavor Sampler  at Meyers Falls Market             6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
We know sweet, sour, bitter and salty tastes, but there is one more taste that doesn’t translate well into English. Some say that Umami presumes the inherent goodness of food, while others call it the perception of tastiness.  Demystify sea vegetables, sample a variety of miso pastes and learn how to unlock full flavor and health potential of vegetables. Entertain your tastebuds!  FREE

bento
May 15 -  Bento: A Healthy Meal in a Box  at Wild in Rice                              1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Japan’s idea of take-out food can be simple or elaborate, but you can always count on a colorful, delicious presentation of  5 key elements.  Foods are artistically transformed into shapes  and textures, then placed in individual compartments.  Forget boring PB&Js and re-invent the lunch hour!  Raw bentos, vegan bentos, gluten free bentos, sugar free bentos.   See how easy it is to create healthy, delicious, fun and beautiful laptop meals for your kids, work lunch or Sunday picnic.  $35 per person

California Guitar Trio playing Andromeda, Lexington, KY, September 16th
“Winning, energetic and highly accessible…”  Los Angeles Times
“Surging forward with North African rhythms, blues, folksy Americana style musings and much more.  It’s not all about technical veracity as the musicians’ astonishing synergy and overall sense of purpose serves as the core paradigm for this super-fine effort.”  Downbeat
“How refreshing—here’s a modern, highly-listenable progressive rock effort with a disproportionate amount of acoustic instrumentation that’s anchored by sold and dedicated musicianship…and there ain’t a hint of the pretentiousness that is almost invariably found within the genre.”  Vintage Guitar Magazine
